New neigh-bours for Cranbrook

Plans to develop a training and husbandry centre for dressage horses in the High Weald AONB have been unanimously approved by Tunbridge Wells Borough Council.

The scheme at Angley Stud, Cranbrook, which was designed by Hythe-based Guy Hollaway Architects, is being billed as a new national centre of excellence for top-flight horses.

The development, clad in large concrete panels, will replace existing ramshackle equestrian facilities on the site and provide a new home for the stud’s owners. The waste from the equestrian bedding will be used to power a district heating system.

Work is expected to start on site – which will be built in phases – this autumn and to be completed in 2020.
