Chilmington Green – has been signed between Ashford Borough Council, Kent County Council and the developers behind it.
The £125 million Section 106 agreement commits the developers to providing £45m for eduction, £36m for improvements to the A28, traffic monitoring and cycling, as well as a £38m community and sports provision.
The £125m contribution will be split between lead developer Hodson Developments, along with other firms, including Jarvis Homes, Pentland Homes and Ward Homes.
The scheme would provide a major extension to Ashford including the new homes, a district centre, two local retail centres, five new schools, employment space and community infrastructure.
The deal follows the recent announcement Hodson Developments will use a £53.8m infrastructure loan to unlock land at the Ashford site, for the first phase of delivery.
Ashford Borough Council has confirmed that, with the Section 106 deal now signed, contractors are already on site and work on access roads will start within weeks. The first tranche of homes is expected to be built by spring 2018.
