Dealership development driven to meet deadline

When you’re next heading coast bound on the M20 by Junction 6 at Maidstone, quickly look to your left and you’ll see a steel framework just peering above the hedge.

Despite the poor conditions earlier in the year, Gallagher Group has made great progress on a new generation of purpose-built drive-through dealerships for Scania.

Planning consent was granted last December, work got under way in late January, the foundations are in, the groundworks and civils completed, and the steel framework and roof are now being erected, meaning all is on schedule to open on time.

The 2.5-acre site is surrounded on all sides by roads – M20 and A229 – and therefore represents an ideal location for a transport-based business. Also, not being near to any houses means the planning consent allows free movement of vehicles at all times, thus enabling 24-hour operation.

The £6m investment will provide an extensive range of services for truck, bus and coach operators in the South East, including commercial traffic entering and leaving the UK by way of the Kent ports and the Channel Tunnel – and support an estimated 35 jobs.

Gallagher Group also has a strong local purchasing ethos, including architects, planning advisers, quantity surveyors and lawyers. Maxim is delighted to act as their PR consultants.
