London Paramount cements land deal

London Resort Company Holding (LRCH), the team behind the plans for London Paramount, has struck a land deal with Lafarge Tarmac that brings the prospect of a £2 billion entertainment resort a step closer.

The deal covers 388 acres of land on the Swanscombe Peninsula which was previously a cement works operated by Lafarge. The whole site is approximately 800 acres.

The news follows the recent round of public consultation, which LRCH reported had seen 82 per cent of respondents approve of the draft master plan, and 63 per cent support the proposed transport schemes.

London Paramount has been accepted by the UK Government as the first ‘Business or Commercial Project’ to be considered a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP), and below is LRCH’s projected planning timetable:

Spring 2015 – Themed workshops and supplier opportunity events
Summer 2015 to Autumn 2015 – Public consultation events prior to submission of application
Spring 2015 to Autumn 2016 – Detailed design and contractor appointment
Winter 2016 – Decision by the Secretary of State
Winter 2016 to Spring 2020 – Construction
Autumn 2019 to Spring 2020 – Fit out and installation
Easter 2020 – Grand opening
