Care Village brings jobs to Leeds

A partially derelict industrial estate is to be transformed into a Care Village, offering a combination of independence and security of lifestyle to young and old alike within a socially active and supportive community.

Maidstone-based Gallagher is working with specialist operator English Villages and construction is expected to start later this year.

The development will create a 36-bed nursing home, 27 close care and 72 assisted living apartments together with extensive communal facilities including a Wellness Centre.

The Care Village will provide the opportunity for a wide range of day care options for older people; and include a restaurant, cafĂ©, library and craft room. There will also be a treatment room to accommodate visiting GPs, and a meeting room for clubs and societies, which will promote links and integration with the community.

A Wellness Centre with gymnasium, Jacuzzi and steam room will complement the development. As well as offering relaxation, it will enable both NHS and healthcare practitioners to prescribe and deliver programs of fitness, conditions management, rehabilitation, assessment clinics and physiotherapy.

The new development will employ more than 100 people with full training and support provided to complement the high quality facilities.
