Solar farm plans withdrawn

Securing support for solar farms on agricultural land is continuing to prove challenging, despite the need to secure a balance between keeping the UK’s lights on, while at the same time ensuring the country’s food security.

A planning application to build a 93-acre solar park and install around 72,000 panels on land located between Fawkham Road and Crowhurst Lane, near the M20 in West Kingsdown, has been withdrawn by developers, Hive Energy.

The Hampshire-based eco-energy company withdrew its application with the prospect that a revised plan could be submitted to the planning authority, Sevenoaks District Council, next year.
