More than 300 residents, business people and councillors took the time
to give their views on plans which developers say will improve Thanet’s rail
and road connectivity while creating a new community on the edge of Ramsgate.
The Manston Green proposals include
the long-talked about Thanet Parkway station, a Park and Ride facility,
improved public transport provision and the building of new roads to reduce
congestion on Haine Road, alongside a phased residential development of 800 new
homes with primary school and community facilities.
Kevin Ashman of Cogent Land LLP and Project Director for Manston
Green, said: “There is much to be optimistic about Thanet’s economic future,
but more could be done to improve journey times to and from London,
reduce congestion on the A256 corridor and provide homes for the area’s growing
workforce. We believe Manston Green offers a timely opportunity to help solve
these long-term issues and support the economic growth of Thanet and East Kent.”
