Hawkhurst takes care

Unanimous permission for a three-storey 90 suite care home on the site of a derelict building in Hawkhurst has been granted by Tunbridge Wells Borough Council.

Known locally as Hawkhurst Castle, it sits on the junction of Heartenoak Road and Cranbrook Road and was formerly a residential home until it closed in 2005. It will be redeveloped by Graham Care Ltd.

Despite objections from local residents, the plans received overwhelming support from parish and borough councillors, as well as Weald of Kent Protection Society and Kent County Council.

Planning was undertaken by Bournemouth-based Tanner & Tilley Planning Ltd, and Carless & Adams Partnership, the Slough multi-disciplinary construction consultancy
