Fracking plans withdrawn

The company behind plans to drill exploratory boreholes for methane gas at three sites in east Kent has abandoned its proposals, saying it intends to collate the additional information requested and re-submit applications in the future.

The proposed boreholes by Coastal Oil & Gas Ltd were at Shepherdswell, Guston and on the former Tilmanstone Colliery site at Eythorne.

The South East debate over fracking continues, with Minister Michael Fallon suggesting households “right across the South” should prepare for gas fracking to begin in their areas. It is understood that in the next few weeks, a study by the water industry will conclude that fracking will not contaminate the water supply.
