£65m investment at Discovery Park

Dover District Council has granted planning consent for renewable energy company Estover Energy to develop a £65 million biomass Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant at Discovery Park.

The plant will supply renewable heat and electricity across the 220 acre site, and low carbon electricity to the national grid, supporting national targets to generate 15% of energy demand from renewable resources by 2020.

Work on the CHP plant is set to begin in 2014, with around 100 construction jobs created in this period, and more jobs to follow once operational.
